Our household dynamics have changed during these past weeks: Twinkletoes is EIGHT. Dinoboy turned NINE on the 28th. Sweetart has started gymnastics classes. Twink nailed her backhandspring. Dinoboy started summer reading classes. Sweetart broke the springs on her crib, put holes in her mattress at the same time and now needs a BED. Dinoboy got a LIZARD for his birthday. We are now a family of 5 humans, 2 canines and one ... what is the latin for Bearded Dragon ?

End of July, 2010
It is the end of July. Half-way through summer break for my kidlets. Past our vacation on the beautiful shores of the Outer Banks region of North Carolina. Past the fifth anniversary of my Dad's passing. Through the weeks where the oldest two kidlets are the same age (six weeks if you needed to know.)

A Book Review - The Secret of Indigo Moon
The Secret of Indigo Moon (The Dopple Ganger Chronicles) by G.P. Taylor
Preview the first chapter!
This is the second book in a series, but we skipped the first book --- will be returning to it now that we enjoyed the 2nd book though!!
I have a 9 year old son who is a reluctant reader. We both thoroughly enjoyed this book. Its mix of text, comic strip dialogue and illustrations were fabulous and kept our attention through the entire book. We loved the way the pages and chapters flowed because of these graphic mixes.
The general plot of the book concerns three main characters, twin girls and a boy, who are living at an orphanage... and a mystery - a mystery always keeps the attention of the kids! The boy, Erik, is the only boy living at the school. At the beginning of the story, Erik hears strange noises and goes to investigate what he hears. Into this investigation comes the help of his friends and together they look into robberies that have happened recently, the headmistress who goes missing and .... the Secret of Indigo Moon.
Honestly, I am finding it hard to write a review that is not a summary or "spoiler" of the story for others. I know I can't stand it when reading a review the entire story is outlined ... why bother even reading the book? This book is fun and entertaining for both young and old. We are definitely going to be reading the first book and are anxiously awaiting the next book of the series.
I do have a trailer to post for this ... it is really cool. Unfortunately, I am having technical issues trying to get it to load to blogger. Does anyone have any tips? I have tried almost 1,000 times to get the file to "LOAD". :-)
***This book was provided to me, free of charge, by Tyndale House Publishers. They have not influenced my review of the book, nor made any edits to my review. ***
